My name is Kim Ivie, and I've been in the prefabricated construction business for 20 years with the last 10 years in environmental risk management and safety engineering. In 2006, I retired as Vice President for one of the leading manufacturers in the chemical storage building industry. Some of you may even recognize me, as I have sold chemical storage buildings to NASA, Exxon Mobil and many other Fortune 500 Companies.
I have a great respect for these companies that are making the effort and investment to become compliant with their storage of haz-mat, not just for safety reasons but the the global issues as well. It's a step forward for all of us!
The purpose of this site is to educate consumers about a complex issue of safe and compliant hazardous material storage. Knowing the "ins and outs" of the industry, it is my wish to share that with you so you can make an informed decision as well as get the highest quality at the best price.
There are many distributors advertising here on my site through Google. These are independent ads that are targeted to the safety and risk managment market. I not endorsing any of them, but in my experience, if they are making the significant investment to advertise with Google, they are committed to their business and are reputable companies.
What I do want to stress is that you can never be "too safe". You CAN minimize risk. Make sure you are buying a Factory Mutual Approved design and all UL Listed parts. And, most importantly - buy American made products. It DOES make a substantial difference. There are a few "manufacturers" that import steel from the middle east region, and it is very flimsy. I've seen these units myself, and they are not apples to apples with American Made Steel. All you have to do is ask, "do you import your steel from Turkey?"
I hope you have gained some knowledge here. Be sure to check out the ads and request quotes from different companies. A smart shopper is a well informed shopper!
